2019 U.S. Midsize Luxury SUV Sales Analysis
Report Updated: With all 2019 Sales Data on January 3rd, 2020
Top Level US Reports: By Manufacturer / By Brand / By Model / Best Sellers
U.S. midsize luxury SUV sales looked very strong for 2019 and for the month of December. This is good news for many automakers, as that’s where they’re putting the majority of their efforts right now.
When you look at the month of December alone, you’ll see that the segment was up by 3,400 units. Take a look at the totals for 2019 as a whole, and you’ll see that the segment is up by about 35,000. That’s a good boost for the segment.
The leader of the pack was the Lexus RX. This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. The model dominates all of the rest of the competition. That said, sales were down by about half a percentage point. Still, the RX sold almost double of its closest competitor, the BMW X5.
We’d expect the segment to experience similar sales numbers into 2020. The Lexus RX should keep its place at the top of the pack and other models may creep a bit closer.
Data will trickle in throughout the day with the numbers being finalized by EOD. GCBC is also happy to announce that we will be adding quarterly sales reports and comparisons in addition to monthly sales comparisons beginning this quarter. We will also be adding monthly sales tables and charts to the mix as well.
Note: FCA US LLC will end its practice of reporting U.S. and Canada sales on a monthly basis following June results. FCA US and FCA Canada will report monthly sales for May and June. The first quarterly report will occur on October 1, 2019, covering the months of July, August, and September.
