BMW lists up to 38 miles of electric range for the xDrive50e and a starting price of $68,300 for the sDrive40i. A fifth-generation X5 was announced in June 2026 and reaches US dealers in October 2026 with the X5 40 xDrive, a 394-horsepower inline-six mild hybrid, followed by the 483-horsepower X5 50e xDrive plug-in hybrid and the battery-electric iX5 60 xDrive in the first quarter of 2027.
BMW X5 Sales in the United States
BMW X5 sales in the United States have climbed to new heights in the 2020s. For years the X5 sold in the 35,000 to 55,000 range, then broke out to 60,724 units in 2021 and a record 82,373 in 2022. Deliveries normalized to 72,574 in 2023 and 72,349 in 2024 before rising again to 75,657 in 2025, the second-best year on record behind 2022. The X5 has opened 2026 strongly, with 41,554 units through June against 33,588 over the same span of 2025.

Canadian X5 demand peaked at 6,942 units in 2016 and has since run in the mid-4,000s to mid-6,000s. BMW sold 4,489 X5s in Canada in 2024 and 4,343 in 2025, a modest step down, though the model has started 2026 ahead of pace at 2,489 units through June versus 2,094 a year earlier.
