Chevrolet Traverse Generations
First Generation (2009–2017)
The first generation Traverse was introduced in 2009 as a replacement for the Chevrolet Uplander. It was available in three trim levels: LS, LT, and LTZ. It featured a 3.6L V6 engine that produced 281 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The Traverse was part of GM’s Lambda platform, joining similar vehicles like the GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave. It was offered in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive, with seating for up to eight passengers. The interior was designed with family comfort in mind, with ample storage compartments and reasonable materials and features for its price point.
Second Generation (2018–2022)
The second generation Traverse was introduced in 2017 as a complete redesign of the first generation truck. It is available in three trim levels: LS, LT, and High Country. The thorough redesign brought sleeker styling, weight reduction, and improved fuel efficiency. The second generation Traverse also received a new V6 engine that produced more power and torque than the previous engine. A 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine became available for some models. It also features a nine-speed automatic transmission. Enhancements in interior quality, including better materials and a more user-friendly infotainment system. Retains its spacious interior, with generous cargo space and passenger room, even in the third-row seating. Various trim levels cater to different tastes and budgets, from the more basic L and LS trims to the luxurious High Country.
Third Generation (2023–Present)
The third generation Traverse arrived as a full redesign, with new exterior and interior styling and a revised suspension. Chevrolet now lists it with a 2.5L turbocharged four-cylinder rated up to 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic, in LT, Z71, and RS trims. Seating for up to eight is offered, along with a maximum 98 cubic feet of cargo volume and a 5,000-pound standard towing capacity when properly equipped.
