Lexus RX sales in the United States have been among the most consistent in the luxury SUV segment. Across this chart the RX has generally posted between roughly 82,000 and 119,000 units a year, holding above 100,000 in most seasons since 2005. Recent years reached 114,033 in 2023 and a high of 118,636 in 2024, with 102,051 recorded for 2025. Through June 2026 Lexus had delivered 59,904 RXs, keeping the model on a healthy first-half pace.

Lexus RX Generations
First Generation (1998-2003)
The first generation RX was based on the Toyota Harrier and was powered by a 3.0L V6 engine. It was a popular car for its time and was known for its comfortable ride and spacious interior.
Second Generation (2004-2009)
The second generation RX was redesigned and was powered by a 3.3L V6 engine or a 3.5L V6 engine. It was more luxurious than the first generation and was available with a variety of new features, including a sunroof, a navigation system, and a Mark Levinson sound system.
Third Generation (2010-2015)
The third generation RX was redesigned and was powered by a 3.5L V6 engine or a hybrid powertrain. It was more fuel-efficient than the second generation and was available with a variety of new features, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a head-up display, and a 15-speaker Mark Levinson sound system.
Fourth Generation (2016-2022)
The fourth generation RX was redesigned and is now available with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It is more fuel-efficient than the third generation and is available with a variety of new features, including a panoramic sunroof, a navigation system, and a 17-speaker Mark Levinson sound system.
Fifth Generation (2023-present)
The fifth generation RX was redesigned and is now available with a hybrid powertrain. The hybrid powertrain gets an EPA-estimated 30 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway.
