Stellantis‘s US sales were flat in the third quarter of 2026 because its two largest brands moved by almost the same amount in opposite directions: Ram gained 30,355 sales on the third quarter of 2025 and Jeep lost 32,021. Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat and Alfa Romeo added 1,117 between them, which left the company’s total 549 short of a year earlier.
| Brand (US) | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Change | Jan. to Sep. 2026 | Jan. to Sep. 2025 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ram | 134,072 | 103,717 | +29.3% | 369,379 | 307,701 | +20.0% |
| Jeep | 128,542 | 160,563 | -19.9% | 413,793 | 449,971 | -8.0% |
| Stellantis (six US brands) | 324,274 | 324,823 | -0.2% | 958,424 | 928,020 | +3.3% |
Light-duty Ram pickups supplied the gain, and the Compass and the Grand Cherokee, which lost two-fifths of their combined sales, supplied the loss. The swing reordered the company. Ram sold more than Jeep, its sister brand under the same owner, for the first quarter since at least 2005. Jeep’s share of Stellantis’s US sales fell to 39.6% from 49.4%. Ram’s share rose to 41.3% from 31.9%.
The quarter also bent the year. Stellantis’s six brands had been up 4.3% in the first quarter and 5.9% in the second, so the level third quarter is the first of 2026 in which Jeep’s losses outweighed everything else the company gained.
Light-duty Rams did the work
Ram sold 117,757 pickups in the quarter, light-duty and heavy-duty together, up 33.7% and the most since the third quarter of 2022. That is 29,691 more than a year earlier, nearly all of the brand’s gain, with the ProMaster van supplying the small remainder.
In the table attached to Stellantis’s third-quarter sales release, the light-duty line labelled Ram LD PU rose 73% to 76,650, while heavy-duty pickups fell 6%. The release’s text gives the 1500 the same total gain and a 42% retail gain, so its sales outside retail, the rental, government and commercial channels Stellantis counts as fleet, grew faster than the truck’s total. The release credits the dealer network with driving retail and gives no other reason for the jump.
Jeep’s fall sits in two SUVs
The Compass and the Grand Cherokee lost 33,801 sales between them, more than Jeep’s whole decline, and left the brand with its smallest quarter since the third quarter of 2013. Stellantis gives no reason for either fall in its release.
Of the two, the Compass fell harder, 61.5% to 10,811, its lowest quarter since early 2017. The Grand Cherokee, Jeep’s second-biggest seller, fell 30.3% to 38,027, its lowest since early 2013.
The Cherokee’s return as a hybrid filled part of the hole. Stellantis’s July sales release listed it among the all-new models for the second half, and it sold 10,344 in the third quarter against 180 a year earlier, with its best retail month in September by Stellantis’s account. The Wrangler rose 5.4% to 44,757 and was Jeep’s biggest seller, the only other large Jeep line that grew.
The year by quarter
| Quarter | Ram 2026 | Ram 2025 | Change | Jeep 2026 | Jeep 2025 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Q1 | 112,160 | 93,368 | +20.1% | 144,552 | 140,583 | +2.8% |
| Q2 | 123,147 | 110,616 | +11.3% | 140,699 | 148,825 | -5.5% |
| Q3 | 134,072 | 103,717 | +29.3% | 128,542 | 160,563 | -19.9% |
Ram has run ahead of 2025 in every quarter of 2026, and its gain was widest in the third. Jeep’s year turned in the second quarter, and the third is where it fell away.
What January will show
Stellantis reports the fourth quarter in early January. The Compass and the Grand Cherokee will show whether Jeep’s third quarter was a trough or a new level, and the Ram 1500 Rumble Bee, which Stellantis says will arrive in dealerships in the fourth quarter, is the next addition to the line now carrying the company.
Questions people ask
Did Ram outsell Jeep in 2026?
In the third quarter, yes: 134,072 Rams to 128,542 Jeeps in the United States, the first quarter since at least 2005 in which Ram sold more. Both are Stellantis brands. Through September Jeep still leads, 413,793 to 369,379.
How many vehicles did Stellantis sell in the US in Q3 2026?
324,274 across its six US brands (Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat and Alfa Romeo), against 324,823 in the third quarter of 2025.
Why did Jeep sales fall in Q3 2026?
Mostly because of the Compass and the Grand Cherokee, which sold 33,801 fewer between them than a year earlier, more than Jeep’s whole decline. Stellantis’s third-quarter release gives no reason for either fall.
