What the count leaves out

BYD is absent from INEGI’s registry and from its brand table. Chirey and Omoda stopped reporting from April 2025, and Motornation, which sells BAIC, JMC, DFSK and SERES, gave INEGI no September total. The registry adds brands as they report, too: Zeekr and Lynk & Co from January 2026, Leapmotor from June. The totals cover the brands that report, not every new vehicle sold in Mexico, in 2016 as now.

January 1 brought Mexico’s 50% tariff on finished vehicles from countries without a trade agreement, so these are the first nine months under it. The longer brand history is on the Mexico car sales data page.

Next date

November 4 is the date INEGI has set for its next registry report, with October’s sales.
