Day 199 — Omani authorities said the Panama-flagged tanker El Gaia is being towed to port after an engine-room fire was brought under control about 103 nautical miles northeast of Musandam, with two crew still missing and 23 evacuated by a Royal Navy of Oman vessel (gCaptain and The Maritime Executive, Sep 15-16). The IRGC said the ship struck a mine; US Central Command said Iran had attacked it twice. Neither account is confirmed. The Congressional Budget Office put the war's direct Pentagon cost at $38B through July and projected it will add about 0.5 percentage points to US consumption inflation in 1Q27.
