Here you will find the YTD SUV sales leaders in the United States for December 2018 YTD. Each month we compile passenger car sales data and reports for North American markets and analyze it to create the best selling list below.
The SUV market is booming with high sales volume and high percentage increases as more buyers opt for a taller-standing vehicle over a passenger car.
Toyota RAV4, Nissan Rogue, and Honda CR-V lead the pack with 427,168; 412,110; and 379,021 models sold respectively for the year. In December, all three of the top models saw double-digit percentage increases in sales over last year, and they all saw increases YTD, too, though much smaller.
The Chevrolet Equinox was on the heels of the top three with 299,449 sales in 2018 and increases for both the month of December and the year as a whole when compared to last year.
Surprises for the year included Ford’s Escape and Explorer, which both saw double-digit percentage decreases from last year for the month of December and the year as a whole.
