December 2018 YTD U.S. Vehicle Sales Rankings – The Best-Selling Vehicles In America
Here you will find the YTD Vehicle sales leaders in the United States for December 2018 YTD. Each month we compile passenger car sales data and reports for North American markets and analyze it to create the best selling list below.
As we enter 2019, it becomes clear from the December and year-on-year sales stats that crossovers and SUVs control automotive sales momentum.
The Toyota Camry and Honda Civic are the two best-selling cars, but their numbers are down 11.17 percent and 13.66 percent respectively YTD.
Meanwhile, the Toyota RAV4, Nissan Rogue, and Honda CR-V all saw sales increases YTD, with the RAV4 leading the way with a 4.8 percent increase and a final tally of 427,168 models sold. Other crossovers showed similar or more impressive increases, with many in double-digit percentage numbers.
While car sales are down, the market for sedans is still large. Toyota sold 343,439 Camrys in 2018 and 303,732 Corollas. The Honda Civic made 325,760 sales and the Accord managed 291.071 sales this year.
It’s safe to assume that car sales will still make up a significant portion of the market in 2019, but it will likely be smaller than years before.
