Toyota bZ4X

The bZ4X is Toyota’s first dedicated battery-electric SUV, launched for the 2023 model year on the e-TNGA platform it shares with the Subaru Solterra. For the 2026 model year Toyota renamed the vehicle simply the Toyota bZ, telling buyers it was “simplifying the name for customers,” and gave it a larger battery, more power and a factory NACS charging port. The figures below track the nameplate continuously across both names.

The 2026 car adds a standard NACS charging port, an 11 kW onboard AC charger and DC fast charging from 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes.
Toyota bZ4X Sales in the United States
The bZ4X built volume quickly in the United States, from a part-year 1,217 units in 2022 to 9,329 in 2023 and 18,570 in 2024. 2025 finished lower, at 15,609 units, down roughly 16 percent, but the headline understates how unusual the year was. Toyota’s own United States sales summary records just 61 bZ4X deliveries in September 2025, a fall of about 95 percent against the same month a year earlier, with only 18 more added in October. Those two near-empty months coincide with the model year changeover: Toyota said the renamed 2026 bZ began arriving at dealers nationwide in October 2025. Volume snapped back as soon as the new car landed, to 1,273 in November and 2,054 in December, and 2026 has been the nameplate’s strongest year by a wide margin. Through July, Toyota had delivered 20,781 units, already more than the whole of 2025 and roughly 86 percent ahead of the 11,183 recorded over the same seven months last year.

Toyota bZ4X Sales in Canada
Canada took to the bZ4X early, with 703 units in the 2022 part-year, 4,179 in 2023 and 6,720 in 2024. 2025 was the exception here too: deliveries fell to 3,501, roughly 48 percent lower, with the first quarter running near 110 units a month against more than 400 a year earlier. The 2026 rebound has been dramatic. Through July, Canadian sales reached 9,100 units, comfortably the best year on record for the nameplate and well ahead of the 1,596 logged over the same seven months of 2025. Note that the Canadian monthly values repeat across adjacent months, the signature of a quarterly report spread evenly across its quarter, so the Canadian series is best read at quarter level rather than month by month.
