2026 Best Selling Large Cars In the United States (All Models Ranked)
The large car segment is the smallest corner of the American new vehicle market and it keeps shrinking. Full-size sedans once anchored manufacturer lineups, but SUVs and crossovers have absorbed most of the buyers who used to shop this category. What remains is a handful of models serving very specific niches: performance, luxury, or both.
The landscape looks nothing like it did a few years ago. The Chrysler 300 is gone. The Dodge Charger returned for 2024 as an entirely different animal, now built on the Stelvio-derived STLA Large platform with a standard electrified powertrain and an available Hurricane inline-six. Whether the new Charger counts as the same car or simply borrows the nameplate is a question Dodge fans will argue about for years. Meanwhile, models like the Nissan Maxima have already exited, leaving the segment with fewer nameplates than any other vehicle category in the U.S.
The buyers who remain here tend to know exactly what they want. Large sedans still offer a ride quality and road presence that no crossover replicates, and the models left standing reflect that: they skew toward performance, toward luxury, or toward fleet duty. Volume growth is unlikely, but the segment isn’t disappearing entirely. It’s just been reduced to its essentials.
