Pickups dominate the podium spots for the year, as was expected, with the Ford F-Series making it 41 years at the top of the US Auto market with a staggering 5.2% market share.

In a sign of the SUV-dominated times, Toyota’s usual best-seller in the sedan market retained its crown amongst its peers but fell two places behind the Rogue and RAV4. Its sales are down 0.4% year-to-date, although it managed 29.7% growth through December year-on-year.
The Toyota Corolla fell further from its usual high perch in the year-end vehicle rankings – it’s down in tenth place year-to-date, five places down on its performance in 2016.
Honda’s Civic passenger car was also overtaken by its CR-V SUV in 2017; the Ford Explorer overtook the Ford Fusion after the latter sold 21.1% fewer vehicles than in 2016.
