2019 U.S Passenger Car Sales Analysis

Report Updated: With all 2019 Sales Data on January 3rd, 2020

When you look at passenger car sales you’ll see that the segment struggled significantly in the month of December and in 2019 as a whole.

Looking just at the month of December, you’ll see that the segment is down by about 89,000 units. When you look at the year as a whole, you’ll see that the segment is down by 510,000 units. This should come as no surprise passenger car sales have struggled for the last few years and this trend should only continue in the future.

The top two cars for the year were the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord. The Camry led the way but its sales were down for the month of December and for the year. The same is true of the Honda Accord.

Many of the only cars that saw sales increase were hybrids. There were also a few sporty cars and luxury cars that saw sales rise, too.
