2021 U.S Midsize Car Sales Figures (With Rankings)

Sales Figures & Rankings for Midsize Cars Sold in the United States

2021 Best Selling Midsize Cars In the United States (All Models Ranked)

In 2021, the midsize car market in the U.S. faced stiff competition from the booming SUV and crossover segments. However, midsize sedans remained popular among consumers looking for comfort, fuel efficiency, and practicality in a more traditional car form factor. One of the biggest challenges for the midsize car segment was the rising popularity of SUVs and crossovers. These vehicles began to dominate American roads due to their perceived benefits in terms of space, driving position, and versatility. Many midsize sedans in 2021 either had hybrid versions or were moving towards electrification, in line with the industry’s broader shift toward sustainable and efficient vehicles.

A perennial best-seller, the Toyota Camry continued to appeal to consumers with its reputation for reliability, comfortable ride, and range of engine options, including a hybrid variant. Another staple in the segment, the Honda Accord was lauded for its driving dynamics, spacious interior, and efficient powertrains, including a hybrid model. With its comfortable interior, available all-wheel drive, and ProPILOT Assist technology, the Nissan Altima remained a competitive option in the midsize segment.
