Nissan launched an all-new Frontier for the 2022 model year, and volume moved from 76,185 that year to 58,134 in 2023, 69,813 in 2024, and 66,478 in 2025, a decline of about 5 percent year over year. Through June 2026 Nissan had delivered 43,101 Frontiers, running well ahead of the 32,393 sold over the same six months of 2025.

In Canada the Frontier is a much smaller seller, generally between 2,000 and 4,300 units a year over the past two decades, with a high of 5,075 in 2022. Volume then stepped down to 3,343 in 2023, 2,641 in 2024, and 1,668 in 2025. The 2025 total reflects an unusually steep drop across the final months of the year, so the recent Canadian figures are best read with that late-year falloff in mind.

Nissan Frontier Generations
First Generation (1997–2004)
Launched in 1997 in North America, it replaced the earlier Nissan Hardbody Truck. It featured a body-on-frame design, common in pickups for its ruggedness and durability. Offered with four-cylinder and V6 engine options.
Second Generation (2004–2020)
The second generation saw significant changes, including a new body style and improved interior. Powered by either a four-cylinder or a more potent V6 engine, offering strong performance for the segment. Available in various cab configurations and bed lengths to suit different needs. The PRO-4X trim provided off-road-oriented features, including skid plates and a locking rear differential. This generation had a notably long production run, with minor updates and facelifts during its lifespan.
Third Generation (2021–Present)
Introduced in 2021, the third generation brought a complete redesign, aligning the Frontier with modern competitors. Powered by a 3.8-liter V6 engine, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Modern infotainment options, driver-assist technologies, and safety features have been included. Improved materials and design give the new generation a more refined feel inside. Continues to offer off-road trims and options for enthusiasts.
