The Kia Telluride was introduced for the 202 MY and has rapidly become one of the most popular full-size SUVs in the United States. In 2023, it was the third best-selling Kia model with over 100,000 units sold. The recipient of several awards, the Kia Telluride is currently offered in 10 trims. The SX X-Line trim level is our pick because of the value it offers at an attractive price point. Among other things, AWD is standard, and there are other niceties like the premium Harman/Kardon sound system, 12-way power driver’s seat, sunroofs and black-painted 20-inch rims.

Our Take

The Sorento is also a very popular Kia model in the North American market, ranking only behind the Telluride, Forte and Sportage models. The hybrid trims stand out with impressive fuel economy that is as good as, and in some cases, even better than its closest rivals. The interior is also decidedly upscale, with standard captain’s chairs that add to the feeling of luxury. The package is rounded off by the SUV’s excellent safety ratings and best-in-class warranty package.

Our Take

The Kia Forte is a clever package from the Korean manufacturer, a compact sedan offering fantastic value for the money with above-average utility. Even the top-spec GT is less than $30,000 (CAD $40,440), and it comes with a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, sport seats, and ambient interior lighting. Even better? The Forte GT is equipped with either a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic or a six-speed manual instead of the continuously variable transmission (CVT) in the other trim levels.

Our Take

Sedans have been hit hard by shifting preferences over the years, with customers increasingly favouring SUV-style vehicles. However, there are still stand-out performers like the Kia K5 that help prop up the sedan segment. It was a finalist for the Cars’ Best Midsize Car for the Money award. The GT-Line trim comes standard with a sporty body kit, a 10-way power driver’s seat and 18-inch wheels. The GT-Line also offers AWD, something that’s missing from the other trim levels.

Our Take

There’s plenty to love about the EV6, currently one of the best-selling SUVs in the small crossover segment. The snappy-looking EV offers fast charging and decent tech loadout. The Wind trim is not as punchy as the GT spec, but it balances that out with its dual-motor setup, AWD, 19-inch wheels and excellent range.

Our Take

There are only a few players in the minivan segment, but the Kia Carnival is surely one of the standouts. It was introduced in the US market for the 2022 MY, and now, Kia has refreshed the model for 2024. The minivan sports a decidedly SUV-style look, especially with the redesigned front end. There is no AWD option for the Carnival, but the stylish minivan more than makes up for it with a ton of standard features, comfortable seats and a capable V6 engine.
