Mercedes-Benz GLS Sales in the United States

United States sales of the GL-Class and GLS have been remarkably steady for a vehicle at this price. After a 26,396-unit second year in 2007, volume dipped through the recession to 15,012 units in 2009, then climbed through the second generation to a peak of 32,252 units in 2017, the best year on the chart. The changeover to the third-generation GLS pulled 2018 down to 21,973 units, and the nameplate traded between roughly 20,800 and 24,500 a year through 2023 before 2024 jumped to 28,127, its best result since 2017. 2025 eased 15.4 percent to 23,804. 2026 has rebounded: January to June totalled 13,583, 17.2 percent ahead of the 11,592 sold in the first half of 2025, and every month so far has landed above 2,000 units.

The Canadian series begins in 2012 at 1,846 units and grew through the second generation to 2,762 units in 2017. After a dip to 1,947 units in 2019 the GLS set its Canadian record at 3,496 units in 2021, then settled back into the 2,200 to 2,700 range. Mercedes-Benz Canada delivered 2,353 units in 2025, up about 6 percent on 2024, with October the strongest month at 238 units. Through June 2026 Canadian volume is 1,051 units, about 6 percent behind the same period last year, though the second quarter was the stronger half of that comparison.
