Kia K4 / Forte Overview
The Kia Forte was introduced in 2008 as a replacement for the Kia Cerato sedan in North America. Over its production run, the Forte was available in sedan, coupe (Forte Koup), and hatchback (Forte5) body styles, competing against the Honda Civic, Mazda3, Toyota Corolla, and Volkswagen Jetta.
The 2025 K4 Redesign:
For 2025, Kia completely redesigned the compact sedan and changed its name to K4. This wasn’t just a badge swap—the K4 is larger (185.4 inches long), features Kia’s new “Opposites United” design language with a fastback-inspired profile, and offers significantly more interior technology and space than the outgoing Forte.
The K4 is available with two engines: a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder (147 hp) with CVT transmission, or a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (190 hp) with 8-speed automatic in GT-Line Turbo trim. All models are front-wheel drive. Fuel economy ranges from 29/39 to 30/40 mpg city/highway depending on trim.
Standard features on the K4 include a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, advanced driver assistance systems, LED headlights, and keyless entry. The base K4 LX starts at $23,145, compared to just over $20,000 for the final 2024 Forte LX.
The Forte/K4 offers a spacious interior for the compact class, with comfortable seating for five and competitive cargo space. The K4 provides notably more rear legroom than the previous Forte. Both the Forte GT and K4 GT-Line Turbo deliver engaging driving dynamics with their turbocharged engines, achieving 0-60 mph in the high 6-second range.
A hatchback variant of the K4 is confirmed for the U.S. market, expected to arrive for the 2026 model year.
