These Daewoo Lanos was replaced in 2002 by the Daewoo Kalos, which was renamed Chevrolet Kalos in 2005 and renamed again to Chevrolet Aveo in 2008. The Daewoo brand was renamed Chevrolet in Europe at the end of 2004 / start of 2005 when GM bought the bankrupt Korean automaker. The Lanos was sold in the US from 1998 until Daewoo’s bankruptcy in 2002. It was available in hatchback and sedan body styles. Its successor was sold as the Chevrolet Aveo in the United States and other markets around the world.

The Lanos was powered by a 1.5L four-cylinder engine that produced 81 horsepower. It was available with either a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic transmission. The Lanos was available in two body styles: a four-door sedan and a five-door hatchback. It was praised for its fuel efficiency and affordability.
