Chevrolet Silverado
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is Chevrolet’s full-size, light-duty pickup and the brand’s highest-volume vehicle, competing head to head with the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500 in the half-ton segment. The current 2026 Silverado 1500 is built at GM’s Fort Wayne Assembly plant in Indiana and is sold alongside the separate, all-electric Silverado EV. The 2026 Silverado 1500 spans nine grades, from the Work Truck to the off-road ZR2 and luxury-leaning High Country, in Regular Cab, Double Cab, and Crew Cab body styles. Buyers choose among a turbocharged four-cylinder, two V8s, and a turbo-diesel inline-six.

Figures reflect the 2026 Silverado 1500 as published by Chevrolet, which quotes maximum towing of 13,300 pounds and maximum payload of 2,260 pounds. The all-electric Silverado EV is a distinct model and is not included in the totals on this page. A redesigned next-generation Silverado 1500 has been announced for the 2027 model year.
Chevrolet Silverado Sales in the United States
In the United States, the Silverado is a perennial top-three seller. Annual volume charted here reached 705,981 units in 2005 and has run in the 500,000 to 600,000 range in recent years. Chevrolet delivered 560,265 units in 2024 and lifted that to 581,002 in 2025, a gain of close to 4 percent. Through June 2026, the latest month on record, the Silverado stands at 276,074 units, tracking about 5 percent below the same January to June period of 2025, when it reached 289,252.

Chevrolet Silverado Sales in Canada
In Canada, the Silverado is a mainstay of the light-duty truck market. Volume peaked at 59,066 units in 2017 and has held broadly steady since. Chevrolet reported 54,016 units in 2024 and 56,824 in 2025, a rebound of roughly 5 percent.

Chevrolet Silverado Generations
First Generation (1999–2007)
The first generation Silverado was introduced in 1998 as a replacement for the Chevrolet C/K series. It was available in two cab configurations: extended cab and crew cab. It was available in four trim levels: Work Truck, LS, LT, and Z71. It was available in various cab and bed sizes and offered a broad selection of engines and drivetrains. There were also heavy-duty models, the 2500HD and 3500HD for heavy-duty applications.
Second Generation (2007–2014)
The second generation Silverado was introduced in 2007 as a complete redesign of the first generation truck. It was available in three cab configurations: regular cab, extended cab, and crew cab. It was available in five trim levels: Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country. Continued to provide a wide array of engine options, including more efficient V8s. Introduced more advanced safety features, such as stability control.
Third Generation (2014–2019)
The third generation Silverado was introduced in 2014 as a major update of the second generation truck. It is available in three cab configurations: regular cab, extended cab, and crew cab. It is available in six trim levels: Work Truck, Custom, LT, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country. Built on a more refined platform, improving ride quality and handling. Infotainment system upgrades and driver assistance technologies. We also saw the introduction of engines with cylinder deactivation for improved fuel economy. Variant-wise, we got the new High Country trim, offering luxurious features.
Fourth Generation (2019–Present)
A complete overhaul with bolder styling, improved aerodynamics, and weight reduction. Introduction of new turbocharged four-cylinder engines, diesel options, and continued V8 offerings. Special off-road-focused version with factory lift a nd unique styling. Finally we get state-of-the-art infotainment system, connectivity options, and advanced safety features.
