Volkswagen ID.4 Sales in the United States

The ID.4 recorded 474 units in a late 2020 start, then 16,742 in 2021, 20,511 in 2022 and an American record of 37,789 in 2023. Volume more than halved to 17,021 in 2024 before recovering to 22,373 in 2025. The shape inside those totals matters more than the totals themselves. 2025 opened with 7,663 units in the first quarter, dropped to 1,992 in the second, surged to 12,470 in the third, easily the strongest quarter the nameplate has posted, then all but stopped with 248 units across October, November and December. 2026 has stayed near that floor: 2,205 units through June against 9,655 a year earlier, a fall of about 77 percent, with the first quarter at just 338 units and the second at 1,867. Because the values inside each quarter track the quarterly total rather than reported monthly data, the quarterly picture is the safer read for this nameplate.
