Ford Explorer Sales in the United States
The Explorer helped define the SUV boom and has remained a volume leader through several reinventions. After a mid-2000s peak above 239,000 units and a deep recession trough near 52,000 in 2009, the unibody redesign rebuilt demand to a high of 271,131 in 2017. Volume has since moved in a narrower band, dipping to 186,769 in 2023 before recovering to 206,981 in 2024 and 222,706 in 2025, up about 8 percent. Through June 2026 Ford had sold 126,925 Explorers in the United States.

Canadian Explorer sales have been more variable, ranging roughly between 10,000 and 18,000 units in recent years. After a soft 2023 at 10,667 units, demand recovered to 11,379 in 2024 and 15,718 in 2025, a gain of about 38 percent year over year.
