Brand loyalists were worried when Ram split from Dodge in 2009. However, RAM, now part of the Stellantis Group, has proven more than capable of creating its own brand identity and thriving in competitive market segments.

The automobile manufacturer continues to deliver a range of high-quality offerings aimed at meeting the demand of truck buyers in the light, mid and heavy-duty truck segments.

Electrification is a significant part of RAM’s plans for the future, with an electric variant of the RAM 1500 expected for the 2025 MY. For now, the current lineup is still made up of very capable vehicles that should help Stellantis sustain momentum on the back of a strong 2023 financial showing.

Our Take

RAM is taking advantage of the relatively options-light all-electric van segment by debuting the ProMaster electric van. The first variant will be an EV delivery model with a later availability for the non-delivery/cargo model. The ProMaster EV will be capable of Level 3 charging, currently one of the fastest ways to charge an EV. Other perks include advanced safety features and a unibody design that smartly incorporates the battery pack into the floor, maintaining a cargo volume comparable with its ICE counterpart.

The formidable RAM 1500 TRX shines with a mind-numbing performance that makes a mockery of its size. With over 700 hp, it is one of the most powerful production trucks ever made. 2024 marks the last MY for the 1500 TRX, and RAM is introducing a special Final Edition model, limited to 4,000 units. It will be available with a choice of exclusive colors, Satin Titanium beadlock-capable wheels and of course, ‘Final Edition’ badging.

Arguably RAM’s most popular model, the RAM 1500 impresses with its durability, styling and versatility. There’s a good reason it emerged as JD Power’s pick for the 2023 best large light-duty pickup. It is available with rear or four-wheel drive. Also, customers can opt for either an extended cockpit or a larger four-crew cab. There are also a couple of powertrain choices on offer, including a hybrid option. The variety allows the RAM 1500 to capture a larger segment of the market.

The RAM 2500 is RAM’s entry point into the world of heavy-duty work trucks. The large pickup, according to Edmunds, boasts ‘one of the nicest interiors’ on the market today. The well-appointed cabin layout allows the occupants to travel in comfort even while working. As with the RAM 1500, customers can select from a range of trim and powertrain options, depending on personal preferences.

This monster truck was custom-built to handle the toughest of pickup duties. A staggering 1,000 lb-ft of torque gives the RAM 3500 a towing capacity only a few rivals can match. The cabin is quiet for a truck this size, and there’s loads of room, enhancing the comfort level of the occupants. A variety of trim levels means that customers still have choices, even at the extreme heavy-duty end of the pickup scale.
