Acura RDX Sales in the United States
The RDX started slowly, with 9,164 units in its partial 2006 debut and 23,356 in 2007 before the recession pulled it down to 10,153 in 2009. The second-generation V6 car transformed the nameplate: volume doubled to 30,527 in 2012, reached 44,750 in 2013 and climbed past 50,000 from 2015 onward. The third generation delivered the peak, 63,580 units in 2018 followed by 62,876 in 2019. Supply constraints then cut deliveries to 24,749 in 2022, the weakest year since 2011, before a recovery to 39,228 in 2023 and 42,988 in 2024. Sales fell back to 32,945 in 2025, with a distinctly softer second half in which monthly volume ran below 2,800 from July through December. That softness has carried into 2026: 13,776 units through June, against 19,197 over the same six months of 2025.

Acura RDX Generations
First Generation (2007–2012)
The first‑generation RDX debuted for the 2007 model year. Built on a unique unibody platform, it featured Acura’s first turbocharged engine: a 2.3‑litre DOHC inline‑four with i‑VTEC variable valve timing. The turbo produced about 240 hp and 260 lb‑ft of torque, delivering V6‑like thrust with the efficiency of a four‑cylinder. Standard equipment included a five‑speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and Super Handling All‑Wheel Drive (SH‑AWD), which could actively apportion torque between the rear wheels for improved cornering. Interior features ranged from perforated leather seats to a premium audio system, with a Technology Package adding navigation and AcuraLink telematics. The RDX’s firm ride and sporty character made it a niche choice but previewed Acura’s Precision Crafted Performance direction.
Second Generation (2013–2018)
The second‑generation RDX arrived for 2013 on a new platform with more traditional power. The turbo four gave way to a 3.5‑litre V6 producing 273 hp and 251 lb‑ft of torque. A six‑speed automatic replaced the five‑speed, and front‑wheel drive became standard with SH‑AWD optional. The redesign softened the RDX’s edges, offering a more compliant ride, improved fuel economy and a larger, quieter cabin. Sales increased substantially as the RDX broadened its appeal, though some enthusiasts lamented the loss of the high‑tech turbo engine.
Third Generation (2019–present)
The third‑generation RDX, launched for 2019, returns to a turbocharged four‑cylinder. Its 2.0‑litre direct‑injected engine produces 272 hp and 280 lb‑ft of torque and pairs with a 10‑speed automatic transmission. Built on an Acura‑exclusive platform, this RDX features the latest generation of SH‑AWD and a sporty A‑Spec trim. The interior introduces Acura’s True Touchpad Interface and premium options like 16‑way power seats and a 710‑watt ELS Studio 3D audio system. A facelift for 2022 added new standard features and improved tech, while the 2023 model added complimentary maintenance and AcuraLink services. The RDX remains a strong seller and anchors Acura’s SUV lineup.
