Chevrolet Express

The Express is Chevrolet’s full-size van, introduced in 1996 and sold in passenger, cargo, and cutaway configurations, largely to commercial and fleet buyers. It shares its design with the GMC Savana and, despite its age, continues to compete for work-van sales against the Ford Transit, Ram ProMaster, and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.

Chevrolet lists gross vehicle weight ratings up to 9,900 pounds for the Express 3500 van, cargo payload to 4,280 pounds, seating for up to 15 in the passenger van, and up to 9,600 pounds of trailering with the 6.6-liter V8. In 4500 cutaway form the rating rises to 14,200 pounds.
Chevrolet Express Sales in the United States
Chevrolet Express sales in the United States reflect its role as a fleet and commercial workhorse, which makes annual volume lumpy from year to year. From a 2005 peak of 128,585 units the van gradually wound down as newer rivals arrived, running in the 40,000 to 80,000 range through the 2010s and early 2020s. After a dip to 40,659 in 2023, deliveries recovered to 44,221 in 2024 and then climbed to 58,057 in 2025, the Express’s best year since 2019. Through June 2026 Chevrolet has sold 25,418, tracking close to the 27,494 recorded over the same months of 2025.

Chevrolet Express Sales in Canada
In Canada the Express has long been a smaller but dependable commercial seller. Volume peaked at 7,301 units in 2006 and has generally run in the low thousands since, reaching 5,586 in 2024 before easing to 3,990 in 2025. The first half of 2026 has been modestly stronger, with 2,278 sold through June against 2,013 over the same period of 2025.
