2019 China Automotive Sales by Automaker – The Best-Selling Automotive Manufacturers By Sales Volume
The Chinese auto market in 2019 was the largest in the world, with over 25 million new cars sold. However, the market continued to slow down, with sales declining for the second consecutive year. The slowdown was due to a number of factors, including the ongoing trade war with the United States, rising unemployment, and tight credit conditions.
Volkswagen Group remained the best-selling automotive manufacturer in China in 2019, but its sales declined by over 12% from the previous year. SAIC Motor was the only one of the top three manufacturers to see its sales increase in 2019, thanks to strong sales of its Roewe and Baojun brands.
