Brazil’s car market, which was the largest in South America, experienced a decline in sales in towards the end of 2008, but managed growth for the year on a year on year basis for the full year. The global financial crisis and its subsequent impact on the Brazilian economy led to decreased consumer confidence and a reduction in car purchases. As a result, car sales in Brazil experienced a notable slowdown during this period.
