Tesla Model Y Sales in the United States

The Model Y scaled quickly after U.S. deliveries began in early 2020. Estimated volume rose from about 40,000 units in that partial first year to 161,527 in 2021, 225,799 in 2022, and a peak of 385,897 in 2023, making it America’s top-selling electric vehicle. Sales then cooled as EV competition widened and the design aged ahead of its refresh, falling to 313,699 in 2024 and 253,020 in 2025, down about 19 percent year over year. Through the first quarter of 2026 the Model Y had recorded roughly 78,000 U.S. sales. United States figures for Tesla models are estimates, since Tesla does not report country-level sales by model.

Tesla Model Y Sales in Canada

In Canada the Model Y grew rapidly, climbing from an estimated 2,750 units in 2020 to a peak of 26,578 in 2024. Sales then dropped to 12,965 in 2025, down roughly half from the prior year, a decline that coincided with the winding down of federal electric-vehicle purchase incentives and shifting eligibility for provincial programs. The Model Y nonetheless remains one of the best-selling electric vehicles in the Canadian market.
