Here you will find annual car sales figures for Romania. These statistics are Total Market Volumes, which include passenger cars as well as light commercial vehicles (LCVs).
From the mid-2000s till 2013, the Romanian car market was in a heavily negative trend. In the six years after 2007 the market decreased 80% from a peak of almost 350,000 sales to a low of just over 66,000 sales, with double digit declines in 5 out of those 6 years. Since 2014, the market has been in recovery mode, showing double digit growth for six consecutive years, returning to almost 180,000 sales in 2019 but that’s still just over half of its level a decade ago. In recent years, LCV sales have typically made up around 12% of total car sales in Romania, but dipped to 9.5% in 2019.
