Large Luxury SUV Sales In Canada – December 2016 & 2016 Year End

Canadian sales of SUVs and crossovers jumped 10% in 2016, a highly consequential uptick for an industry that managed to produce record sales over the calendar year despite plunging car sales.

But full-size luxury SUV sales jumped 23%, a gain of 1740 sales for what is a high-priced, low-volume category.

December’s big gain – a 31% increase to 1011 units – played a major role in the segment’s calendar year increase. 11% of the category’s volume in 2016 was produced in the final month of the year, as Cadillac Escalade volume more than tripled to 505 units: 315 Escalades and 190 Escalade ESVs.

Escalade sales were strong over the course of the year, rising 36% compared with 2015. 

Sales of the Infiniti QX80, Land Rover Range Rover, Lexus LX570, Lincoln Navigator, and Mercedes-Benz G-Class? They increased, as well.
