What GCBC publishes
Sales figures by model, brand and market, monthly and annual; rankings; and news and analysis that is downstream of that data: what a manufacturer reported, what moved and why, in the manufacturer’s own words where it has given them. A news piece is published when it contains a number only GCBC can supply or adds to a data page GCBC owns.
Standards
Every number is traceable to a named source; if a figure is unavailable, the piece says so. Sources are linked where they are used. Political figures are not named; the institution is. Announcements and rules in comment period are reported as proposals, not as policy. Unsigned agreements are reported as unsigned. Recalls are reported as the safety system working.
Goes to the editor before anything is published
Every piece, without exception. A new data page or a change to how pages are built. Any claim about a named individual’s conduct, finances or legal exposure. Any claim the checks could not settle. A retraction. A change to this policy.
Never
Fabricated or estimated figures presented as reported ones. A source hidden behind an aggregator. Paid placement presented as editorial.
Independence
GoodCarBadCar carries advertising and sells a membership and data products. Neither influences what is covered or how a figure is reported.
