Canadian sales of pickup trucks jumped 8% in calendar year 2016 thanks mainly to a record performance from the class-leading Ford F-Series.
F-Series sales jumped 22% to an all-time annual high, a gain of 26,572 units compared with 2015. Consider that the overall pickup truck market grew by 27,003 units and you begin to understand the Ford's importance.
42% of all full-size pickup trucks and 39% of all pickup truck sales – plus 49% of Ford brand sales and 48% of Ford Motor Company sales – were F-Series pickups.
Midsize pickup sales totalled 32,019 units in 2016, driving the sector's market share up 8.5%. Keep in mind, however, that all four top full-size trucks, individually, outsell the whole midsize sector.
Historical monthly and yearly sales figures for any of these best-selling trucks can always be accessed through the dropdown menu at GCBC's Sales Stats page, and for those not viewing the mobile version of this site, near the top right of this page, as well. GoodCarBadCar will soon publish the list of Canada's best-selling SUVs and best-selling cars in 2016 and will also post December-specific editions.
