Fiat Sales Data, Trends, Analysis & Current Lineup for the U.S Automotive Market

This is your hub for all of the Fiat sales data for the U.S market. Fiat has been in business in North America, particularly, in the US since 1908. They even made a manufacturing plant in the country located in Poughkeepsie, New York and started producing Fiat luxury cars like the Fiat 60 HP and the Fiat 16-20 HP. The manufacturing plant was closed in 1917, however, after the US entered the World War I.

It took several decades after the World War I before Fiat returned to US. In 1950s, the company began selling  selling the original 500, Fiat 600 Multipla, Fiat 1100, Fiat 1200, and the Fiat 1300. Other models introduced by the company 1950s in the US include the Fiat 124 Sport Spider and the Fiat X1/9. As a result, Fiat saw its sales rise for the next couple of years. In the early 1980s though, Fiat sales has drop tremendously. After selling, over 100,000 vehicles in 1975, their sales drop to just around 14,000 in 1928. This caused Fiat to leave the American market in 1983.

Fiat came back to North America in 2009 after they acquired a 20% stake in Chrysler (US automaker). The company then started selling Fiat cars in the US with their internationally popular Fiat 500 city car. Fiat also sells other models in the US such as Fiat Ducato and Fiat Doblo which they rebranded as Ram ProMaster and Ram ProMaster City respectively.

Fiat U.S Sales Figures & Recent Highlights

After being back from a 25 year absence in North America, Fiat is back to selling their cars again in the United States. However, things are not going well for Fiat in the US market as their sales are floundering. Sales of Fiat-branded vehicles in the US peaked in 2014 after selling over 46,000 units. Their sales, however, has been free falling since 2014 and has dropped to 41% in 2018. It is the lowest mark of the company since their reintroduction to the US market after a 25 year absence.

Things continued to get worse for Fiat. Fiat sales in the U.S. decreased by 69.3% in 2020, to 11,301 vehicles. This was due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused a decline in demand for new cars. Fiat sales in the U.S. decreased by 83.5% in 2021, to 2,057 vehicles. This was due to the ongoing chip shortage and the discontinuation of several models, such as the Fiat 500L and the Fiat 500X. Fiat sales in the U.S. decreased by 90.7% in 2022, to 160 vehicles. This was due to the continued chip shortage and the discontinuation of all Fiat models in the U.S.

Fiat has been discontinued in the United States. The brand was struggling to compete in the market, and the chip shortage made it difficult to produce cars. Fiat is still available in other markets, but it is unlikely to return to the U.S. in the near future. The U.S. market is very competitive, and Fiat was struggling to compete with other brands.
