Our Take On The Small and Midsize Luxury Cars Sales Numbers
Small Luxury Car sales in Canada saw a decline for 2018 of roughly 4,000 units. The month of December also saw a decline of roughly 700 units.
Midsize Luxury Car sales in Canada fared better, with an increase for the year of roughly 8,400 units. In the month of December, the segment a significant increase of over, 1,800 units over December of 2017.
With that said, the Midsize Luxury Car sales increases were due almost entirely to the Tesla Model 3. Without that car’s sales, the segment would have been down for the year and the month when compared to 2017.
If you exclude the Model 3 from the sales stats, the declines in both the Small and Midsize Luxury Car segments are pronounced. This trend is likely to continue in 2019 with more buyers turning to SUVs.
