Land Rover Defender Sales in the United States
The reborn Defender has been a straight-line success story in the United States. Deliveries began partway through 2020 and still reached 9,100 units in that shortened year, then more than doubled to 19,080 in 2021. Supply constraints pulled 2022 back to 15,733, the softest full year on this chart, after which the Defender resumed climbing: 21,212 in 2023, 27,707 in 2024 and 28,389 in 2025, a fourth consecutive gain and the best year in the dataset. Momentum has cooled in 2026. Land Rover delivered 12,500 Defenders through June against 15,887 over the same period of 2025, running about 21 percent behind, although monthly volume has strengthened through the spring from 1,832 in February to 2,368 in May.

Land Rover Defender Sales in Canada
Canada has followed the same upward path on a smaller scale, and unlike the United States it is accelerating. The Defender opened at 828 units in its part-year 2020 debut, reached 1,777 in 2021, dipped to 1,630 in 2022, then rose in each of the next three years to 2,070, 2,839 and a record 3,108 in 2025. The 2026 start has been dramatic: 2,847 units through June against 1,492 a year earlier, a gain of roughly 91 percent that already puts the nameplate within touching distance of its full-year record with half the year still to run. January 2026, at 602 units, is the single strongest month in the Canadian series.

Land Rover 90 and 110 (1983-1990)
These models, named after their respective wheelbase lengths in inches, were a continuation of the Series lineup but with significant updates in design and engineering.
Land Rover Defender (1990-2016)
In 1990, the 90 and 110 models were renamed the Defender 90 and Defender 110 to emphasize their rugged capabilities and to distinguish them from the more luxury-oriented Land Rover Discovery. The Defender remained largely unchanged in its essence throughout this period, emphasizing utility and off-road prowess. Production of this generation ended in 2016, owing to stringent emission and safety regulations.
Land Rover Defender (2020-Present)
After a brief hiatus, the Defender was reintroduced as an all-new model in 2020. While it maintains design cues from the classic Defender, it’s thoroughly modern in terms of technology, comfort, and safety. It offers a wide range of engine options, including petrol, diesel, and hybrid variants. This generation also boasts impressive off-road technology, making it both a luxury SUV and a capable off-roader.
