Canadian automotive website, total minivan sales in Canada in 2021 were 29,845 units, up 9.7% from 2020. This was the first increase in minivan sales in Canada since 2017. The top 5 best-selling minivans in Canada in 2021 were the Chrysler Grand Caravan, Toyota Sienna, Kia Carnival, Honda Odyssey and the Dodge Grand Caravan.

The increase in minivan sales in 2021 was due to a number of factors, including the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, the improving economy, and the low interest rates. Additionally, minivans are becoming increasingly popular among Canadian consumers due to their versatility and all-wheel drive capability.

Day 202 — Greenpeace identified five major oil slicks in the Strait of Hormuz earlier this week with a combined visible area of 240 square kilometres, since dispersed by weather to roughly 80, and has tracked more than 100 spills by satellite since the war began (via DW, Sep 18). One slick sits near Oman's Musandam National Park and another near Iran's Minab River Delta, both protected areas; Greenpeace's Nina Noelle told DW the published figure is a conservative estimate. The International Maritime Organization has verified 80 attacks on shipping in and around the strait since the conflict began on Feb 28, with at least 22 seafarers killed (via Safety4Sea, Sep 18). Marine fuel supplier Peninsula confirmed the crew member missing since the Sep 9 Hercules Star incident off Dubai has been found deceased, taking that incident's toll to two. AAA's national diesel average set a sixteenth consecutive all-time high at $6.4866/gal and California diesel a fresh state record at $8.4161/gal in the reading stamped 9/19/26.
