U.S. Auto Sales Figures by Brand

The GCBC Analysis

It’s important to note that Ford, GM, and FCA’s brands aren’t represented here. Without them, we can’t get the full picture of the brand view of the industry, but we can get a general consensus and see what other brands did last month and so far YTD.

Toyota led the way in terms of volume. The brand was actually down by about 15 percent for the month and seven percent YTD. It was followed by Honda, which was up by about three percent for the month and down about a single percent YTD. Rounding out the top three was Nissan, which saw sales drop by about nine percent for the month and eight percent YTD.

Big winners for the month of July were Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, and Genesis. All three brands saw significant jumps in sales over this month last year.

It’ll be interesting to see where Ford, GM, and FCA brands fall once those numbers become available at the end of the quarter.

We will report July 2019 Automotive Sales beginning on Thursday, August 1st, 2019, beginning around 10 AM ET.

Below you will find US sales figures for all of the major auto brands broken down by month and by quarter. Brands differ from Manufacturers, for example, Ford Motor Co manufacturers both Ford and Lincoln brands. If you are looking for U.S. sales figures by auto manufacturer check out this page instead.

Data will trickle in throughout the day with the numbers being finalized by EOD. GCBC is also happy to announce that we will be adding quarterly sales reports and comparisons in addition to monthly sales comparisons beginning this quarter. We will also be adding monthly sales tables and charts to the mix as well.

Note: FCA US LLC will end its practice of reporting U.S. and Canada sales on a monthly basis following June results. FCA US and FCA Canada will report monthly sales for May and June. The first quarterly report will occur on October 1, 2019, covering the months of July, August, and September.

Important note: Both Ford, GM, and FCA have switched to quarterly reporting, making it more difficult to accurately gauge sales. We won’t have results to report for Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Ford, Lincoln, Jeep, Chrysler, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Dodge, and Ram until the end of each quarter.
