Volkswagen Tiguan Sales Figures

Volkswagen Tiguan

Here you will find monthly and yearly Canadian and U.S. sales figures for the Volkswagen Tiguan. The Volkswagen Tiguan is a compact crossover SUV produced by Volkswagen since 2007. It is currently in its second generation, which was introduced in 2016. From Model Year 2018 the Volkswagen Tiguan is only available as a long wheel-base version in the US. This model is called Tiguan L in China and Tiguan Allspace in Europe. Since the regular wheel-base version won’t be sold in the US, is will just be named Tiguan. To differentiate it from the first generation in terms of sales, we’ll still call it Tiguan L on our pages, especially considering the 2017 Tiguan will continue to be sold alongside the new generation for about a year.

Volkswagen Tiguan Overview

The Volkswagen Tiguan is a compact crossover SUV produced by the German automaker Volkswagen. First introduced in 2007, the Tiguan quickly became one of Volkswagen’s best-selling models worldwide due to its blend of practicality, style, and German engineering.

The first generation (2007–2016) Tiguan was launched in 2007 and became a strong competitor in the compact SUV market. It was available in various trim levels and with multiple engine options. The second-generation Tiguan (2016–2022) was larger, offering more interior space and updated technology. In some markets, there’s a longer wheelbase version called the Tiguan Allspace or Tiguan L, which can come with a third-row seat option. The third generation (2022-Present) is designed on the Volkswagen MQB platform and will be available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.

The Tiguan’s design has evolved over the years, aligning with Volkswagen’s modern design language. The latest versions feature sharper lines, a more aggressive front grille, and updated interior features. Inside, the Tiguan offers a premium feel, with high-quality materials, a central touchscreen infotainment system, and an optional digital cockpit (digital instrument cluster). The Tiguan offers a range of powertrain options, including petrol, diesel, and hybrid variants, depending on the market and model year. The vehicle is known for its balanced handling and comfortable ride, making it suitable for both city commutes and longer drives. The Tiguan R is the performance variant of the Tiguan, boasting a more powerful engine, sportier design cues, and enhanced driving dynamics. It’s designed for enthusiasts who desire SUV practicality combined with sportier performance.

The current Tiguan is available with a variety of engines, including a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine. It is available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The Tiguan has a comfortable and spacious interior that can seat up to five people. It also has a large cargo space with 37.6 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats. The Tiguan is equipped with a standard 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity. It also has a rearview camera and a multifunction steering wheel. The starting MSRP for the Volkswagen Tiguan is $26,295.
