After posting gains in May, June, and July, Jaguar USA reported a 40% drop in XK volume in August 2013. Why are these dates significant? The XK’s quite costly little brother went on sale in May.
F-Type sales have been booming, and we expected to see consumers turning their backs on the older XK. Now that the back-turning has occurred, XK volume slid below 90 units for just the second time since the beginning of 2011.
Also, people may no longer be interested in the XK because the hottest model looks like something that even Mansory thought only 17-year-old boys would like.
34,740 copies of the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S have been sold since the cars arrived on the market more than a year ago. During the same period in which Subaru USA sold 9786 BRZs – May 2012 through August 2013 – Subaru USA also sold 21,702 copies of their Impreza WRX. Winter-friendly and wonderfully practical, the WRX doubles the number of raw performance offerings available in Subaru showrooms. The majority of automakers don’t offer anything half as genuinely performance-oriented.
