17 of August’s Top 30 Best-Selling Luxury Vehicles In Canada wear European badges on their hoods. The best-selling American premium vehicle in Canada last month was a Lincoln, the Edge-based MKX.
Not since April has the Lexus RX been Canada’s favourite premium utility vehicle. In August, that sub-crown went to the Acura MDX, sales of which rose 24.3% compared with August 2010. Lexus RX sales plunged 29% in August.
Canada’s favourite luxury brand in August was BMW, as you read on September 1. 39% of BMW’s sales were 3-Series sedans, coupes, and convertibles, perhaps a few Tourings, too. Mercedes-Benz, with 2170 sales, was Canada’s second-ranked premium automaker last month. More than 6% of Mercedes-Benz sales in August were Sprinter commercial vans. If we considered the Sprinter a luxury vehicle because of its tri-star badge, it would rank ahead of the Infiniti EX and Audi Q7 in the table below.
Speaking of Audi, the Volkswagen-owned Ingolstadt-based automaker was the third-ranked premium brand in Canada in August 2011. There are four Audis on this list of Canada’s 30 favourite premium vehicles. Those four vehicles represent 40% of the model range but 81% of all Audi sales in the first eight months of this year.
