None of the top-selling passenger cars in America for July 2018 broke through the 30,000 units mark for the month – a feat that n recent years has been well within the reach of the Toyota Camry, Honda Civic, Honda Accord and Toyota Corolla family at this time of year.
Further highlighting the shrinking of this segment of the vehicle parc is the amount of red on the chart below; five models out of the top-20 sellers sans General Motors’ figures managed year-on-year growth, with the Tesla Model 3 breaking through to join the Nissan Sentra, Hyundai Elantra, Dodge Charger and Kia Optima as the only models to make headway for July.
A lightly refreshed 2019 model year Optima appeared at the New York Auto Show earlier in the year and is due to hit dealers this quarter.
