Our Take On The Pickup Truck Sales Numbers
Canadian pickup sales in May were still 3.3% behind sales performance for May 2017, even with an extra selling day in the month.
Year-to-date, sales are down 4.57% compared with that over the course fo the first five months of 2017, and the most growth is contained within the low-to-mid field of pickup nameplates.
The Chevrolet Silverado has a slight edge over its counterpart the GMC Sierra at this point in the year, with an 8.4% increase in the Chevrolet’s sales boosting it to swap places with the Sierra compared with this point last year.
Despite drops for both last month, Toyota’s pairing of the Tacoma and Tundra are also selling well in 2018, with the Tundra’s sales up over a fifth for the year so far.
The steepest growth in the Canadian pickup market is courtesy of the Chevrolet Colorado, the company’s midsize pickup selling strongly in the brand’s best May since 2007.
