Slower sales than last year of full size pickup trucks in Canada have left the market overall with a difference of more than 4,000 sales from this year’s total to last for the first quarter.
Another month of sales decline for the Ford F-Series in Canada had an impact on the full-size pickup truck sales total for March 2018 – full size sales were down 2.12% year-on-year last month.
Small and midsize pickups on the other hand continue to do well, though the 1375-unit increase in sales of these so far this year has had little impact on the bottom line of the market as a whole; the increase represents just 1.6% of all pickup sales in Canada for the year so far.
March saw the Ram Pickup’s first month of sales growth year-on-year since November, with the 7.5% increase in its sales last month helping it claw back some ground to its year-to-date total.
Combined, the General Motors full-size twins the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra outsold the F-Series by 748 units. Year-to-date, the big Ford retains a comfortable lead in the segment.
