Our Take On The Sporty Car Sales Numbers

Sales of American Muscle cars in the Canadian market jumped forward by 29%, an increase that is entirely down to the Dodge Challenger almost trebling its sales from October 2016.

Sales of Euro sports cars grew too, with the Audi TT and Porsche Cayman both joining the Jaguar F-Type’s efforts of significant year-on-year growth here. Canadian buyers seem to be eschewing the soft-top Boxster unsurprisingly given the time of year, though the increase in Cayman sales more than compensates for the seven fewer Boxsters Porsche sold this October than last.

Buoyant sales of the Porsche 911, Mercedes-AMG GT and newcomer to the segment the Lexus LC help to push sales of Premium Sports Cars in Canada to almost double the amount that were sold last October.

Sales of the Subaru Impreza WRX and STI did well to come as close as they did to last October’s lofty total, though in the end fell two short for the month. Sales of the Subaru BRZ are also down slightly, though the Toyota 86, with which it shares its underpinnings, posted significant increases on last October.
