Our Take On The Sporty Car Sales Numbers
In the Muscle car segment, the Ford Mustang continues to rule the roost, while the Dodge Challenger’s sales dipped in November after an impressive October. In November, less than half as many Challengers were sold as Camaros, though the Challenger remains in second place year-to-date.
The market for Euro Sports Cars is 7% adrift of last year’s total to date, with losses from most cars in the sectors’ totals for the year not helping. The Mercedes-Benz SLC-Class looks set to be joined by the Audi TT as the only two vehicles in the segment to go green for their end of the year total next month, if Audi can carry on the growth spurt they’ve shown with their sports coupe over the last few months.
Demand for premium sports cars grew by 68% year-on-year, as the Porsche 911 sold almost 4.5 times as many this November than last. 911 sales accounted for 16.3% of all Porsches sold in Canada for the month, behind sales of the Cayenne and Macan SUVs.
