Our Take On The Sporty Car Sales Numbers
After sales of the Dodge Challenger skyrocketed last January, this January sees volume levels for the Challenger return to more normal levels for the ffirst month of the year.
With the other two models in the American muscle chart, the Mustang and Camaro, each posting sturdy year-on-year-increases, the shortfall in Challenger sales had less impact on the total number of muscle car sales in Canada this January than may be expected given the magnitude of the Challenger’s decline – Canadian sales of muscle cars fell by just 6.3% last month.
Sales of sporty cars in Canada overall grew by 5% year-on-year for January even with the drop in sales of muscle cars. Strong sales of the Audi TT helped the European sports cars sub-segment to 37% year-on-year growth, while premium and miscellaneous sports cars also saw increases on the same month last year.
