Small SUV sales were up slightly for January 2019 in Canada when compared to this time last year. The Toyota RAV4 leads the way in terms of sales volume. It also managed to see a strong sales increase of over 31 percent.
Surprisingly, the next five models in terms of sales volume all saw sales decreases. The Hyundai Tucson was the only model that didn’t see a double-digit sales decline.
There were many other models that saw significant sales declines, too, including the Jeep Cherokee, Chevrolet Equinox, and Subaru Crosstrek.
It obviously wasn’t all bad news, though. In addition to the RAV4’s sales increase, the Nissan Qashqai, Honda HR-V, Subaru Forester, and Jeep Compass.
On the Tall Hatchback and Crossover side of things, a couple more thousand models sold than did this month last year. The Honda HR-V led the way in terms of sales volume. It saw a significant sales increase of over 12 percent.
Other models that saw large sales increases for the month of January included the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, Ford EcoSport, and Kia Niro.
Notable double-digit sales decreases of crossovers included the Subaru CrossTrek, Mazda CX-3, Chevrolet Trax, Jeep Renegade, and Fiat 500X.
