Our Take On The Small SUV Sales Numbers
Small SUV sales in Canada in February outperformed this month last year. The same can be said for the segment YTD. For the month, there were about 1,400 more sales than this time last year.
Leading the way in terms of volume was the Honda CR-V followed by the Toyota RAV4. Both models saw significant sales increases well over 20 percent.
Several other models saw notable rises in sales, too, including the Hyundai Kona, VW Tiguan, Ford EcoSport, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, Kia Niro, Buick Envision and Fiat 500X.
Several models also saw double-digit percentage decreases, including the Ford Escape, Nissan Rogue, Mazda CX-5 among others. However, the models that saw sales declines weren’t enough to bring the whole segment down. It’s looking like Small SUV sales could be a strong segment in 2019.
