Our Take On The Small and Midsize Luxury SUV Sales Numbers
The market for Small and Midsize Luxury SUVs in Canada went from strength to strength in September, with all the sub-segments in our breakdown posting sales increases on the same month last year.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class had its best month since January in the Subcompact Luxury SUV mini-segment, which was also the last time it topped the BMW X1. Unfortunately for the GLA-Class, the X1 remains the victor in September’s countdown, and the Merc has some catching up to do of its own to match last year’s year-to-date.
The Audi Q5 made further waves in the Compact Luxury SUV segment, besting its September 2016 performance by almost 25%. In September, almost a fifth of all Compact Luxury SUVs sold in Canada were Q5s.
The Cadillac XT5 continues to show strong growth in the Midsize Luxury SUV countdown, with 301 more than last September being sold in the ninth month of 2017. The new Land Rover Range Rover Velar also makes a strong entry to the Canadian market, with an impressive 223 hitting the road in only its second month on sale.
