Our Take On The Small and Midsize Luxury SUV Sales Numbers
The BMW X1 continues to be the runaway winner in the Subcompact Luxury SUV segment for Canada. It posted 75.5% growth on last Octobers’ sales to make it the sixth best-selling Small or Midsize Luxury SUV in the Canadian market this month.
The top spot goes to the Lexus RX, which had its first ever four-figure sales month in Canada in October. Year-to-date, the RX’s market share is 16.1% of all Midsize Luxury SUV sales, up one percentage point from this time last year.
The market for Small and Midsize SUVs has come on 16.9% year-on-year, with notable contributors to that growth including the Volvo XC60 (up almost 300% year-on-year), the Mercedes-Benz GLC (up 222 sales on last October) and a few others, as well as the addition of new models the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Range Rover Velar.
